Howlin’ Wolf

Since I posted a James Cotton video, I figured I’d follow it by one of the men he got his start with, Mr. Howlin’ Wolf.  Howlin’ Wolf has to be one of the most physically impressive figures I’ve watched play the harmonica.  He’s a huge man with a huge voice that comes out of his harp as a righteously rich sound.  Howlin’ Wolf’s style really shows me that simply can be beautiful when it’s played clean and precise.  His style is minimal and almost crude and yet the resulting music is beautiful and powerful.  I love watching his face when he plays and I find his stage presence to be captivating.  Have a listen to this gargantuan great and enjoy!
