James Cotton Superharp

Today I’m going to post a video that I love and have listened to many times before.  It’s a song by the great James Cotton that I know only by its YouTube title, Slow Blues. Mr. Cotton got his start playing with the likes of Sonny Boy Williamson II and Howlin Wolf in the mid 40’s and almost 70 years later is still knocking out music!  If you aren’t familiar with James Cotton, you would do yourself a huge favor to finish this video and then proceed to look him up on YouTube. He is a master of the emotive jam, the heartfelt freestyle, and most of all, some seriously soulful blues.  He’s one of those players who makes me actually feel something when I listen to him.  His technique gives me chills and his tone makes me think there must be magic in that harp of his.  Have a listen to some fantastic blues and enjoy!
