Today I had the great pleasure of discovering a blues virtuoso by the name of Phil Wiggins. Man, this guy really makes my toes tap! The way he slides around those blues licks and sets melodies free from his cupped hands just makes me want to get up and dance. Sticking with today’s theme of improvisation, here is a video of Phil making a recording for The Virginia Folklife Program, a group dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Virginia. I love watching Phil’s facial expressions and body movement as he plays. His music comes out so rich and smooth, like blues with a silver lining.
