Okay, maybe four posts featuring John Popper in one day may be getting a bit much, but it’s a boundary I’m willing to push. This is an awesome video of Popper playing the New Orleans House of Blues with Dan Aykroyd, AKA Elwood Blues. Such a vibrant and skilled pair! Popper’s voice has that fantastic rugged edge to it and his harmonica dances on the high reeds like a tap dancer on speed. And Aykroyd is a technical wiz with skills pulled from so many different greats. I love listening to Elwood Blues play the harp because somewhere in my mind, he is still just a character in a Saturday Night Live sketch and it makes it all the more magical that he can actually play. This video is a toe-tapping, shoulder-swaying, head-bobbing good time! Have a listen and enjoy!
