Daddy’s Got the Blues

I found this song through my harmonica friends over at Reddit.  (Never been there?  Go check it out!  Those guys post some great harmonica links.)  Daddy’s Got the Blues is a track off the Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack.  I’m increasingly amazed at the quality of music video games are incorporating these days.  We’ve come a long way since Gun Fight.  Anyway, the artist is listed as Masashi Hamauzu but I’m not sure if he played the piece or simply composed it, as he is generally known as a composer.  Whoever it is playing,  he (or she) plays some awesome Western blues!  Such impressive control and intonation!  They tickle the high end of the harp with some staccato scale work and then slide down to the lower end to sculpt a soulful melody that makes you close your eyes, smile, and nod in agreement with whatever it is they’re saying through that beautiful harmonica of theirs.  This song makes me want to play the game just to find where this song is used.  Have a listen and enjoy!
