Jason Ricci is one of the more colorful characters I’ve come across in my search for great harmonica players and one of the most talented, as well. A harmonica mechanic who customizes harps by hand, Ricci has some wicked technical skills, both on the workbench and on the mic. I love the raw edge he has to his sound and, in particular, find his phrasing to be some of the best I’ve heard. Check out this video of him playing a blues festival in Holland and keep an ear out for 2:56 for some beautiful intervals.
